Three Squared™ Ranked Sessions in three weeks. UBC40 in Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse on 8th March. Parkour59 in Roubaix on 14th March. Quality Movement in Stockholm on 21st and 22nd March.

Something is clicking.

What Is a Ranked Session?

A Ranked Session is a 1v1 competition hosted on Squared™ where everything is automated. Gyms can run it from a single phone and a Bluetooth speaker. No teams to organise. No jerseys to produce. No expensive staff or referees. Minimal overhead, maximum competition.

Here’s how it works:

  • Registration: All participants need a Squared™ account. New players start with a base ELO of 1000. Returning players carry their existing rating.
  • Grouping: The system automatically creates groups based on ELO. Higher-level athletes play together. Newcomers play together. This keeps matches competitive at every level. Newcomers don’t get frustrated by never tagging or evading. Experienced athletes get the challenge they’re looking for.
  • Waves: A wave is one match per group. Within each group, the system randomly determines the first evader and the queue of chasers. Then it’s winner stays on. Evade successfully and you remain as evader for the next chase. Tag and you become the next Evader. Step out (tagged or evaded) and you rejoin at the back of the queue. Once all groups have completed a match, the wave ends. The gym organiser can then start another wave or close the session.
  • ELO adjustments: Each chase impacts your rating. The system factors in streaks, opponent level, and fatigue. Outperform your group and your ELO climbs quickly, placing you against stronger competition next time. Underperform and your rating adjusts downward. Perform as expected and your ELO stays stable.

That’s it. Simple to run, meaningful for athletes, sustainable for gyms.

The Point Is Not Big Events

Ranked Sessions are not designed to replace Chase-Off™ events or World Championships. They’re designed to fill the gaps between them.

The goal is local leagues. Regular competition. A reason for athletes to train and test themselves without waiting months for the next official event. For gyms, it’s a revenue stream that requires minimal investment. For athletes, it’s accessible competition without travel costs or team logistics.

This is how padel and pickleball clubs operate. They host local tournaments every week without tens of thousands in investment. No world-class teams required. Just people showing up, playing matches, tracking progress, and grabbing a drink or meal together afterwards. The competition matters, but so does the community that forms around it. New faces become regulars. Regulars become friends. The gym becomes a place people want to return to.

It also works as a talent detection system.

Gabin Pariel is currently ranked number one in the world on Squared™. He came out of the French Academy division. At the Dexterity Depot Chase-Off™ earlier this month, in his first international appearance, he scored evasions against Redouan Yagoub, Marquis Bennett (WCT7 US MVP), and Ky Baldwin.

So Where Is the US?

Three sessions in three weeks across Europe. UBC40, Parkour59, Quality Movement. France and Sweden leading the way.

Meanwhile, the US has yet to run a single Ranked Session.

The question is worth asking. Are US gyms unaware of Squared™? Are they hesitant about how their athletes would compare on a global leaderboard?

American gyms have Quads™. They have athletes. Many also have thin margins and struggle to make Chase Tag® programming profitable. Meanwhile, a low-cost, automated competition format that fills the calendar between major events and brings athletes back weekly sits unused.

Europe is running Ranked Sessions. The US is not. The leaderboard is live. The revenue model is proven. The only thing missing is participation.

Europe is building that infrastructure now. The US could do the same tomorrow.

The Stage Is Set

Over 150 athletes have already competed. Dozens of Ranked Sessions have been played across Europe. The system works.

This is likely the best opportunity right now for gyms to activate their Quads™ and engage their local communities while turning a profit. More profitable gyms means more entrepreneurs willing to invest in Chase Tag® and open new facilities, making the sport more accessible for athletes worldwide.

The infrastructure exists. The leaderboard is live. The revenue model is proven. Now gyms need to step up and use it.

The more gyms that participate, the more interesting this becomes. Inter-gym competitions. Dedicated awards. Teams using the leaderboard and proven track records of individual athletes to scout and recruit for major events. Gabin Pariel went from Squared™ number one to Parkour59’s Worlds roster. He won’t be the last.

If you run a gym with a Quad™ and you want to host a Ranked Session, Squared™ makes it possible with minimal setup. If you’re an athlete looking for regular competition, ask your local gym when they’re running one.
